BOKO HARAM INSURGENTS HAVE NO POWER, BEN BRUCE BOASTS

Abubakar Shekau, leader of a faction of the Boko Haram insurgents and some of his lieutenants.
A vocal Nigerian Senator representing Bayelsa East Constituency at the Senate, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has said that the tenacity of Leah Sharibu, the remaining Dapchi girl still being held by the insurgents, in her refusal to renounce her Christian faith, has clearly demystified the power that the Boko Haram insurgents are believed to have.

Speaking earlier Wednesday through his twitter handle, the self-styled “Commonsense Senator” declared that without guns and bombs, Leah had overpowered her captors by her refusal to negotiate her faith with terrorists.

"Leah has refused to negotiate her faith with terrorists. She has shown that you don’t negotiate with terrorists. Between Boko Haram and Leah, who has the power? It is Leah,” the Senator stated.

Leah Sharibu made the headlines earlier last week when it was reported that of the 110 school girls that the insurgents had abducted in Dapchi, a town in Yobe State, North-East Nigeria, and later released after about two weeks in their custody, she was held back for refusing to be converted to a Muslim. As at the time of this report, this development has continued to attract debates in the public space.

Senator has Bruce hailed the girl’s determination to remain resolute in holding on to her faith even in the face of grave threat to her life.

“Without guns and bombs, she has overpowered her captors. May God bring Leah, my hero, safely back home,” the lawmaker offered.

THE DEARTH OF COMRADESHIP; THE DEATH OF BROTHERHOOD; AND THE DEAFENING DECIBELS OF MOUTHY REVOLUTIONARIES Part I-IV – BY CHRIS MUSTAPHA NWAOKOBIA JNR

"When the people shall have nothing more to eat,
they will eat the rich." - Jean Jacques Rousseau.

Every so often I receive the deluge of compliments which has become my daily lot since I discovered my call some 29 years ago, precisely at 18 when with a few friends we birthed the group called VOICE OF THE PEOPLE in Sapele, a town once renowned for housing the biggest Timber & Plywood facility in Africa, one case of 'a paradise lost', blame the horrible leadership we grow in this clime. Yes, back to the compliments, too many nice words, lacking in support and action, lacking in commitment and comradeship, lacking in sincerity and sacrifice, and lacking in brotherhood, in backing and barking.

As humans, we of the progressive left have made huge mistakes, letting those who did not fight the Military to take over in 1999 was the most grievous, equally grievous was settling for Buhari in 2015 as the alternative to Goodluck Jonathan, when names like Prof Comfort Sonaiya of Kowa Party, Engr. Martin Onovo of the NCP, Dr. Nani Ibrahim Ahmad of the ADC et al were candidates. Indeed we owe the nation an apology, as we all suffer under the present watch. Who says that if we had pulled our resources, reach, leverage and experience around one of our own, we will be where we are today?

As 2019 approaches the same lies and hubris that fueled the fears that brought us this low, resonates. We are shopping for moneybags rather than putting our money where our mouth is, have you wondered what mileage our little support can give to an ORDINARY PEOPLES candidate? THINK and let us walk the talk.

THE DEARTH OF COMRADESHIP; THE DEATH OF BROTHERHOOD; AND THE DEAFENING DECIBELS OF MOUTHY REVOLUTIONARIES II

"In a well governed state, there are few punishments,
not because there are many pardons, but because criminals are rare;
it is when a State is in decay that the multitude of crimes is
a guarantee of impunity" - Jean Jacques Rousseau.

The above words define the Nigerian state. A state that must be reworked to the benefit of all. Without a modicum of doubt, the present political class cannot birth and berth the Nigeria of our dreams.

The present political operators are merchants of power, and merchants in power, driven by neo-colonial policies that hold little or nothing for the ORDINARY PEOPLE.

They preach Privatization and Private Sector driven economics, they create big businesses that profit them and their cronies at the expense of the masses. And they trade the fallacy that Govt has no business in business, not even in the most liberal capitalist economies are governments not involved in business. And, we celebrate the hubris that sees to the sale of national wealth to governmental operators and their apparatchiks. Sad.

When on the 16/12/2017 I resigned from the APC, and on the 1/01/2018 I declared my intention to run for the office of President come 2019, I was not driven by politics but the need for a SYSTEM OVERHAUL, some think that what we need is regime change, but it is more than that. WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION and RESTRUCTURING are the core normative that will save our Country, and prevent THE POOR FROM EATING UP THE RICH, only the deep can see through the unfolding reality ditto kidnapping and the wanton killings that liter the space.

Now is the time to take back our Country.

"True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar;
it is not haphazard and superficial. It comes to see that
an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring.
A true revolution of values will soon look uneasily on
the glaring contrast of poverty and wealth...and say
'THIS IS NOT JUST.'"
- Martin Luther King Jr.
A Time to Break Silence. April 4, 1967.

I have watched the emergence of several young Presidential candidates with 2019 as the target year for a masses oriented ballot based ORDINARY PEOPLES revolution, but the target must be SYSTEM OVERHAUL, WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION AND RESTRUCTURING.

There are several reasons for which we must own the Redemptive process, we must remove from asking politicians for stipends and handouts, and learn to support and fund the process with our 100, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 100,000, 1m, 10m, 40m, or so naira. We must organize to take back our Country.
Ponder the ironies:

1. We have about the lowest minimum wage, and the highest paid Legislators in the world.

2. Govt lends money to Private Individuals and cronies that bought over our national assets like PHCN in the most corrupt Privatization protocol known to humankind.
3. Since 1999 the ANTI-CORRUPTION war has been very political, 'you are treated as corrupt and harassed until you move to the ruling party'.
4. Trillions are spent on infrastructure with little to show for it.
5. As praise-singers seeking crumbs defend the indefensible.
This will continue if we do not take ownership of the political process. Now is the time to take back our Country.

DEARTH OF COMRADESHIP; DEATH OF BROTHERHOOD; AND DEAFENING DECIBELS OF MOUTHY REVOLUTIONARIES IV

I am excited that young people are taking up the gauntlet to challenge for the Presidency in 2019. When I did in 2011 at 40, some considered it a joke, haply today that effort has given rise to the NOT TOO YOUNG TO RUN fervency, it inspires THE YOUTH TAKE OVER MOVEMENT and fuels THE CABAL MUST GO normative. Being the youngest Presidential Candidate in our nation's democratic history when I ran in 2011, has inspired a generation to dare.

The choice to run again in 2019 is a commitment to a CALL, a call to birth and berth a NEW DEAL for the masses of our people; a call for a SYSTEM OVERHAUL; a call for RESTRUCTURING; a call for WEALTH

REDISTRIBUTION, a call for a JUST, EQUITABLE and FAIR Nigeria; a call to return Nigeria to Nigerians; and a call to etch love for human lives, love for Country, love for generation next, and love indiscriminate of creed or clan, on our national canvass.

WE CANNOT CONTINUE TO:
1.     Politic with human lives ala CHIBOK and DAPCHI and think all is well.
2.     Dwell on conspiracy theories, when if we organize we can rupture the conspiracy of the RULING CLASS and the Political elite against the ORDINARY PEOPLE.
3.     Take side with, fight one another, and or defend those who brought our nation to this sorry trajectory.
4.     Allow the blame game that excuses the failure of the present watch with those of the past.
5.     Allow cheerleaders to cheer us into believing that there is no alternative to the mediocre and the lethargic.
And the way to go is to take ownership of the political process by supporting and fundraising to berth THE NEW DEAL.

LOVE OF STEAL OVER STEEL - BY MICHAEL OVIENMHADA

Can we give our leaders hell and tell them enough is enough?
As I write this article, my hands are shaky and my heart is heavy. I am sad and the reason is the state of our nation. I am also afraid that the promise of a better tomorrow may be a mirage after all. The reasons are plenteous. We are yet to have transcendental leadership at the national level and the prognosis is not encouraging. As a business person who is used to solving problems everyday to keep my business running, I understand what it must take to keep our country running. We cannot plunder and prosper in the same breath. It is not just going to happen. We cannot also be asleep at the wheel, neither can we be bereft of ideas as to what needs to be done to get out of the hole. The first thing however, we need to do is stop digging the hole deeper. But how?

2019 looms and we are all at daggers drawn. Propaganda machines are revving up and truth gets to stand on its head for the next few months. The ruling Party is at serious pains right now, trying to convince us that they have made our lives better since they took over. The reality in our businesses and our homes tell a different story. I feel sorry for children who have to grow up in this era of scarcity. Milk and other sources of protein have gone out of reach as wages have either stagnated or declined even as inflation bites. Whereas, I had workers who earned more than minimum wage in 2009, almost ten years later, people are happy to do the same job for half what I paid in 2009. That cannot be called progress by any measurement. What we have on our hands is a catastrophe, a time bomb, waiting to do its job, blow us all up.

As we labour to navigate the great issues of our time, hunger, unemployment, insecurity, Internally displaced persons, Herdsmen/Farmers imbroglio, declining power of the Naira, inflation, kidnapping, Terrorism, etc, it would appear that there is no confidence on the part of the people toward those who govern that they have the capacity to confront the dilemma that we face.

When this becomes the case as it obviously appears to be, people will resort to self-help for the simple reason that nature abhors a vacuum. The days are far behind us when some tribes can be referred to as warrior tribes. There is an equalizer now and it is called the AK 47. With this weapon in anyone’s hands, even a moron, the ground becomes level, very level. Ask Federal troops why Boko Haram persists after 10 years? Ask the United States why they are still bogged down in Afghanistan after 15 years and four Presidents? The Boko Haram terrorists  sling mind boggling weaponry versus our poorly equipped soldiers whose (ogas) have so decimated their ability to fight because they also need to be super rich. It is their turn, they reason. It is for this same reason of corruption in the polity that many things cannot work in this country, whether it be Refineries, Mining, Ajaokuta, Education or Agriculture or anything else that is meant to benefit even suffering people like the IDPs. This expression by itself is an anomaly. How can a man be displaced in his own village and in his own country? Clearly, we have exceeded ourselves. The tainting of anything and everything with front-loading will make it almost impossible for anything to work well in Nigeria. Only strong, selfless leadership can address this.

As I watched a video clip by a member of the House of Representatives about the moribund Ajaokuta Steel Plant, I was overcome with strong emotion. I reasoned to myself—is this not a cause worth giving hell for? Can we give our leaders hell and tell them enough is enough? Can we? Think about this, we spend between $20 and $30 billion yearly on Steel imports. Here is an industry that was conceived by the Gowon administration in 1971, obviously with the strong input of Obafemi Awolowo, a man without peer in his time. Under President Shehu Shagari, it came alive and was 95% completed when that government was overthrown by Buhari for reasons known to only himself and his gang. If he had a plan for governance, how come he did not understand the strategic importance of Steel to the greatness of our nation? His successors have not fared better and so, 34 years after the overthrow of the Shagari government, the Steel sector has been marching backwards. This is why I want to at this point call the patriotism of our leaders to question. Do they love this country? Do they really love this country enough to want to do right by her?

Trump in all his (scatter-scatter) made a bold declaration recently which is resonating around world capitals. He said, “No Steel, No Country.” These are lines worthy of Otto Von Bismarck who famously declared regarding the German Empire:  the issues of our time cannot be settled by blah blah blah but by blood, by iron and by fire. It is a profound declaration with strong attestation to love for country. It cannot be any other way. So declared Sophocles in his book, Antigone----No man must put his friend above his country; Our country is our life, it is only when she rides that we ride.

Just like the AK47 makes men equal, the Steel sector makes nations equal and the greatest equalizer of all is the Nuclear bomb. There is no question about it and there is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that were I to get a chance to get into Aso Rock, I would locate my office in Ajaokuta until I get the place working by Iron and by Steel and by Blood and by fire.  An industry that holds the key to the creation of 20 million jobs cannot be anything but a national security issue and it must stand atop the pile of our priorities aside Power. What’s gone is gone, what’s done is done. What’s done cannot be undone, but where there is a will, I know first-hand, because I have been solving problems as a business person since the age of 19, there is a clear pathway.

There is no doubt in my mind that the original builders of the Ajaokuta Complex whose government, Russia has explicitly stated their willingness to come back to get the job completed ought to be re-invited to get the job done. Even a mechanic will decline to do a job when another mechanic has started the job already. How much more our Steel Industry and so, I refuse to rest this essay because I am very angry. Many times, when I think of the perils of running for President and I want to advise myself otherwise, issues like this keep tugging at my conscience. If not now, then, when? If not you, then, who should it be? These are the great questions and issues of our time and everyone who loves our country must stand up and be counted. I am standing up but only you, my beloved countrymen and women can help me to be counted. Share this article. My challenge is still out. If you can gather 20 people in your living room anywhere in Nigeria, call me. I will show up and we can have a conversation. 2019 must not catch us asleep at the wheel.

BUHARI ANGRY WITH IGP OVER FAILURE TO RELOCATE TO BENUE, MAY BE FIRED

Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris on Tuesday, appeared at the Presidency for questioning over why he flouted the President’s order to him on 9th January 2019 to relocate to Benue following the January 1 killings in the state.

IGP Ibrahim Idris was received by President Muhammadu Buhari in a private audience. However, no details of the meeting were disclosed as Idris left Aso Rock about half an hour later visibly troubled.

All efforts to get an official statement from him by newsmen who laid siege to the Villa, proved abortive as he shunned pressmen.

Recall that Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue State had told President Buhari that the Inspector-General failed to carry out an order given to him to relocate to Benue to personally oversee security in the state and forestall further security breaches.

In response, the President has admitted that he never knew that the IGP flouted the order but declined making any statement on what he intended to do about it.

Presidency sources hinted that the President felt very embarrassed and may deal decisively with the IGP any moment from now.

“Don’t be surprised to hear that the IGP has been sacked as the President is very crossed over Mr. Idris’s official misdemeanor. He may have decided to come hard on the IGP to send the right signal to all,” the source disclosed.

KEY TO NIGERIA’S SECURITY IN DEFENCE OFFICERS WIVES' HANDS, SAYS OLUBADAN

Mrs. Bolanle Olonisakin.
The age-long maxim that says behind every successful man is a woman has further gained weight in the reckoning of the Olubadan of Ibadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji Ogungunniso I.

The monarch stated this to underscore the very vital roles played by spouses of the Nigerian defence and security officers, whose support he considered as crucial to the success of territorial insurgencies in the country.

According to Tribune reports, Oba Adetunji noted this Wednesday when the President of Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) who is also the wife of the Chief of Defence Staff, Mrs. Omobolanle Olonisakin paid him a courtesy visit with members of DEPOWA at his Popoyemoja palace.

Speaking on behalf of Olubadan Adeola Oloko, the Monarch’s Personal Assistant and Director of Media, stated as the country was fighting a war against Boko Haram and other insurgencies, without the support of their spouses, officers of the various security agencies involved in the war would find it difficult to successfully prosecute the war.

“How would some of us who are sleeping with our two eyes closed be able to sleep and snore? Your support (as wives of defence and security officers) is very dear to their gallant effort on the war front. This is why I said that you are all very, very important in the defence of the territorial integrity of Nigeria.”

He assured his visitors that his palace had always been friendly with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies since he assumed the throne, and promised to sustain this robust relationship.

“I see every one of you as my daughters, I am very proud to be associated with you.”

Responding, Mrs. Olonisakin thanked the monarch, stating how much she relished her upbringing at Aremo area Ibadan.

“As a proud daughter of the traditional monarch and Ibadanland, I deems it fit to pay homage to the Olubadan as a mark of honour and to seek his royal blessing and advice.”

TOP 10 REASONS WHY OLDER WOMEN LIKE YOUNGER MEN

The man/woman relationship and how affairs often start remain a mystery to mankind. But then, relationships between both sexes continue to dominate discussions globally. Relationships are forged based on so many reasons, age notwithstanding.

In this article by Princess Withapen, we will examine why women like younger men.

You may wonder why an older woman would want to date a younger guy. What makes a woman fancy a toy boy who is younger to her by a decade?

Answering these questions is not necessarily as direct as answering - 'why do older men like younger women?' This post looks at some of the deeper reasons why a woman in her thirties or forties may seek a relationship with a man in his twenties.

Still wondering why women like younger men? Consider the following reasons:

1) Men of their age may not be as attractive and handsome
Age is not kind to anyone. Wrinkles and beer bellies are just some of the obvious signs of ageing which add years to a man's look. A woman may date a younger man if she feels that men of her age are not as attractive or handsome any more.

This applies especially to women who have not allowed the years take toll on their bodies by being motivated to work out and stay fit. They may feel that they are compromising by going out with a man who is their age, but looks at least a decade older. She would rather date a man who is a decade younger but looks almost her age.

2) Being in charge: Advantage of increased relationship experience over her toy boy lover
An older woman will have more relationship experience than her young lover. This makes the woman feel more capable of handling the ups and downs of a relationship. She will derive pleasure in knowing that she is in charge of the relationship.

A young guy may also not mind the woman taking charge in the relationship as long as her behavior does not come across as annoying or nagging. This is a win-win situation for the younger man and the older woman.

3) Advantage of taking the lead in the bedroom
A woman in her 30's or 40's could be married but living separately, divorced, or never married but been in and out of many relationships. In either of these situations, the woman is likely to have had much more experience in the bedroom than her toy boy lover.

Dating gets very difficult for women as they age. A woman may be able to confidently enter a relationship with a younger guy knowing that she has had more experience in the bedroom than him. There are no insecurities and the fear of not living up to expectations is transferred from the older woman to the younger guy.

4) Men of their age are generally married or in a relationship
Lack of choice is a real hindrance for a woman in her late thirties and forties. Many older women date younger guys simply because most men of their age are either married, in a relationship or not bothered at all.

An older woman may naturally start dating a guy who is younger than her because of this reason. Yet, she will be called a cougar because the term itself points to women who date men younger than them by many years.

The rut of life can frustrated any individual after some years. Dating a younger man could be a way of letting off some steam.

5) To get the feeling of being young and youthful again
When a woman dates a younger guy, she is exposed to a life that she would have virtually forgotten about. The playful romance, romantic outings and youthful love can make her feel like she is reliving her twenties.

The presence of a younger man will also keep a woman updated with the latest trends, helping her become trendier. She will get to keep up with the latest in music, movies, fashion and media – something which she never had a chance while being burdened by the responsibilities of marriage, children and work.

6) Experiencing the thrill of dating a younger guy
Everyone likes to let off some steam after working hard or being stuck in a short rut. There are many ways of doing this and one of them is to do something that others don't approve of. This concept is similar to the mentality of a child or a toddler, who will always go for the candy that he or she is not allowed to eat.

The elusive nature of having a relationship with a younger man can attract an older woman who is looking for something that will thrill her and completely change her life.

7) The feeling of dictating matters of finance in the relationship
Cougars are typically shown in popular culture as women who have more money than their younger male partners. This is because the woman presumably has worked for many years and is in a very healthy financial situation.

She can buy her younger lover gifts, take him out on dates and even take him shopping. This thrill of taking the lead in money matters may be quite an exciting and nurturing feeling for the older woman.

8) Younger guys are less serious and more fun
Single men in their thirties and forties can be burdened by many responsibilities. Mortgage payments, alimony payments, pressure at work, credit card debts and children from previous relationship are just some of the things that take the fun out of an older single man's approach to life.

In comparison, men in their twenties have fewer things to worry about. This makes them more fun-loving and spontaneous. Younger men will be willing to go out for that midnight pizza without worrying about an early morning the next day or they will happily party on a weekday without fussing about a hangover on the next.

A younger man will also be relatively less occupied, making him readily available for impromptu dates. All these things make a relationship with a younger man a lot less serious and a lot more fun.

A relationship with a younger guy may be seen as a way of bringing the spark back in the bedroom.

9) Bringing the excitement back in the bedroom
Dating a younger guy can spice things up in the bedroom. A woman who has just stepped out of a loveless marriage may feel the need to get the groove back in the bedroom.

While this is generally not the sole reason why older women like younger guys, rediscovering what it feels to be loved and cherished by a man can make a woman prolong her relationship with her toy boy.

10) To feed the ego and self-esteem: Proving that she still looks attractive
An older woman may look forward to dating a younger man to passively feed her ego and self-esteem. Knowing that she can easily attract a guy many years younger to her will make her feel more beautiful.

A woman in her late thirties or forties will obviously feel smitten when a man who is a decade younger compliments her for her looks. It will make her forget the age difference because she will fell like the prettiest woman in the world when a younger man finds her attractive.
