The road, one of the two that connect the Western and Eastern part of Nigeria to the entire, has been begging for the attention of the Federal Government for a number of years. The State Governor, Godwin Obaseki who visited part of the failed road was drawn to tears over what has become of one of the best roads in Nigeria and the harrowing experiences that travelers face travelling on the route.

“Beyond being a Federal Road, it’s the economic lifeline of Edo State. It’s sad; this would have cost us a fraction of the amount if our call was heeded about two-three months ago. We’ve pleas; we’ve begged and have done everything possible to the Federal authorities to just help with maintenance before the rains. You can see, we are cut off as a state, and this is really devastating for us. Our economy has been grounded. We are really helpless,” lamented the Governor.

He therefore pleaded with the Federal Government to urgently take steps to fix the road in order to save the economy of the state from collapsing totally.
