It’s a Lie, I Never Threatened Suicide, Gov Fayose Swears

Gov Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, Southwest Nigeria.
Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has denied ever saying that he would commit suicide should President Muhammadu Buhari return to the country alive. APC supporters in Ekiti State and some other groups had while celebrating Buhari’s return on Monday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, challenged Fayose to make good on his alleged threat.

But the governor in a statement on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, refuted that the governor ever made such a threat and said that it was the creation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The statement stated in part, “Mr. Fayose never said he would commit suicide if the President returns to the country. It is the creation of the APC. It is their style to create such falsehood?”

Buhari returned to Nigeria on Saturday after spending 103 days on a follow-up treatment in London.

During his stay in London Fayose was reported to have claimed that Buhari had been on life support since June 2017 and even threatened to make public pictures of the president to prove his claim.
